Train of the future

As the need for decarbonisation becomes ever more pressing, the Institute's research in the area of rail transport of the future is helping to counteract the steady growth in transport volumes by increasing the proportion of rail transport.

Our research at the Institute of System Dynamics and Control (DLR) focuses on the vehicle concept of the Next Generation Train - an innovative family of double-decker high-speed trains with a lightweight design. Our aim is to offer a holistic approach by researching and developing concepts, methods and technologies that make rail vehicles less wearing, lighter, more energy-efficient, more comfortable, more reliable and more digital.

From mechatronic track guidance of single-wheel bogies to simulation and hardware tests on our advanced test benches - we invite you to join us in setting the course for the innovative and sustainable mobility of tomorrow.
