Braunschweig's Mayor Ulrich Markurth (SPD) invited the apprentices to form an opinion on local and international news during the project period and to participate in democracy. The exchange of news and the exchange with people in conversations and in forums are various ways of doing so.
"Who is right? Putin or the others? Erdogan or the others? Only those who are well-informed, can participate in the decision-making process, help shape their own lifeworld, "said the Stadtoberhaupt. "Whoever says that my little world is too complicated and wants to shut itself off will not succeed. Then the world will come to you."
