eDRIFT

The objective of the ESA funded project e-DRIFT (Expand Demand – Disaster Risk Financing and Transfer) is to develop a virtual platform that will support stakeholders (e.g. re-insurance companies) with risk assessment for flood events. This requires a deep knowledge of the environmental situation, the potential affected areas, infrastructure and people. EO based services deliver essential information to evaluate the status of preparedness, to define measures to enhance the disaster prevention or about situation analysis of an event for an efficient emergency response. Within the project, DLR contributes with global settlement data and the processing of population density grids. It is aimed to connect the e-DRIFT platform with the U-TEP platform for this purpose. The project is coordinated by CIMA; DLR leads WP6 and contributes to WP5. The duration of e-DRIFT is from June 2018 until November 2019.
