Virtual Tower Operations
Virtual Tower Operations
Remote towers are already in operation at airports around the world and are becoming increasingly important. Air traffic controllers no longer need to be physically present at the airport to manage air traffic. Researchers at the Institute of Flight Guidance are now taking this a step further: with the ‘Virtual Tower’, the entire air traffic controller’s workstation – including the view from the tower and all necessary systems – is transferred to a virtual environment.
