Our New Year image features the TanDEM-X digital elevation model (DEM) of Europe. Today, the global TanDEM-X DEM serves as a reference for a wide range of Earth science and geospatial applications, as well as for commercial and security-related data exploitation. The Copernicus DEM - an edited version of the original TanDEM-X Global DEM - is freely available at 30-meter and 90-meter posting and has become the new standard for global topographic data.
TanDEM-X and TerraSAR-X have surpassed all expectations. A few weeks ago, we celebrated 15 years of bistatic radar operation in close formation flight. Both satellites continue to deliver data of excellent quality, and we hope to extend their operations by approx. 3 and 5 years, respectively.
In light of the challenges we face at this time, I wish you confidence in the opportunities ahead and optimism for the coming year.
