Our Institute Has a New Name
- The Institute of Maritime Energy Systems has been renamed following a decision by the Executive Board and approval by the DLR Senate.
- The new name clearly emphasises the scope of the Institute's maritime research.
As of January 2026, the institute has a new name.

Our research has already been broad and interdisciplinary in recent years. From energy systems and maritime technologies to resilient ship systems and innovative drives for maritime safety. With the new name, we are making this breadth of content and focus more clearly visible to the outside world.

For us, the renaming is therefore not a change of direction, but a clear positioning for what we stand for and for maritime research, which we want to further advance together with our partners.
