In mid-2017, NEXT ENERGY was integrated into the new "DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems". Attendees at the unveiling of the new entrance sign included (from left to right): Prof. Karsten Lemmer (former Member of the DLR Executive Board for Energy and Transport), Dennis Rohde (Member of the German Bundestag), Stephan Albani (Member of the German Bundestag), Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund (former Chair of the DLR Executive Board), Stephan Weil (former Prime Minister of Lower Saxony), Thomas Bareiß (former Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy), and Institute Director Prof. Carsten Agert.
