Utilisation of satellite data
The first concrete collaboration between the German Remote Sensing Data Centre (DFD) of the DLR and the Oldenburg Energy Meteorology working group focused on the future use of data from the newly launched MSG weather satellites ("Meteosat Second Generation"; shown here in a model). These activities culminated in 2002 with the approval of the first joint EU research project, Heliosat-3.
