Wind Energy Experiments
The Braunschweig Wind Energy Experiments (WX) facility is a young, growing organisational unit founded as part of the continuation of wind energy research by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
This consists of two multi-megawatt-class wind turbines positioned one behind the other in the main wind direction, along with a powerful research infrastructure. The wind turbines will be procured with funding from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. Due to the multidisciplinary experience of the partners (DLR, ForWind Universities Oldenburg, Hannover, and Bremen, as well as the wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON-WRD), a globally unique test field for wind energy research is being created. The primary focus initially lies on topics such as plant control, condition monitoring, meteorology, acoustics, aerodynamics, aeroelasticity, support structures, geotechnics, and wind energy systems.
