Research group Flexible Automation Systems

Tomorrow's production should be "Automatically lighter". The Flexible Automation Systems group's focus on making processes and systems more flexible addresses current challenges in the field of automation for aerospace applications.

Flexible production platforms

Automation solutions for aerospace products must be flexible. In order to reduce the changeover effort between applications, we are working on highly flexible automation systems and "plug & work" integration concepts.

Intelligent programming methods

We are developing systems to simplify the programming of systems using AI and sensor-supported programme generation. We are also researching tools for the dynamic interlinking of processes in order to identify and leverage optimisation potential.

Dynamic process control systems

Unplanned process deviations often require a reconfiguration of further interlinked process steps so that productivity can continue to be guaranteed.

Human-machine interaction

Processes and products are becoming increasingly complex and the autonomous capabilities of machines still lag far behind those of humans. We are therefore working on methods for the efficient integration of people in future digitalised production environments using collaborative robot systems and augmented reality user interfaces.
