Fast Lane project and HoTStufF: thermoplastic pressurised dome (in cooperation with Premium Aerotec GmbH)

The Fast Lane project for the development of a thermoplastic pressure dome demonstrator and the associated process technology was created as part of cooperative research. It is intended to be used in a single-aisle aircraft such as the Airbus A320. The development stages are based on the TRL criteria and are planned up to TRL6 level as part of the LuFo 6.1 funding project HoTStufF, which starts in 2020. Aspects such as industrialisation and online QA will be taken into account in the production technologies and design right from the start. In addition to the demonstrator designed for substitution (interface compatibility with the A320), HoTStufF aims to develop a completely new design for a pressure bulkhead that is far removed from industrial specifications. The aim is always to advance into structural areas of the aircraft that are subject to higher loads, such as the fuselage and wings.

As part of the project, activities in the area of large-area thermoplastic structures and in connection with industrial applications will be intensified. Furthermore, co-operation with Premium Aerotec GmbH, which is represented in Augsburg, will be further intensified, thus enabling further project acquisition.
