Hi!Lusatia e.V.

Hi!Lusatia e.V. aims to promote the appeal and diversity of working, living, teaching and research in the Germany/Poland/Czech Republic tri-border region through joint initiatives, and to play an active role in the forward-looking, sustainable transformation of the region. The focus is on promoting science, research and education.

The name Hi!Lusatia is a combination of the English greeting ‘Hi!’ and the Latin word for Lusatia, and makes it clear that skilled workers are warmly welcomed in Lusatia. Hi!Lusatia is a regional network for science, research and education in Lusatia. The association aims to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions, research institutes, businesses and society, and to drive the region’s development forward. Hi!Lusatia focuses on promoting innovation, sustainability and interdisciplinary collaboration in order to position Lusatia as an attractive location for skilled workers.

Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, was elected Chair of the association’s Executive Board: “The founding of Hi!Lusatia is a significant milestone for Lusatia and its development as a strong hub for science, research and education. I am proud that we have launched this initiative together with our partners. The association will help to enhance the region’s appeal and diversity and drive forward its sustainable transformation. Hi!Lusatia warmly welcomes skilled professionals and offers an inspiring platform for joint projects and ideas,” said Prof. Alexander Kratzsch, Rector of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The vice-chairs are Sven Werner, site manager at Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, and Prof. Thorsten Claus, director of the IHI Zittau. The association is based at Obermarkt 17 in Görlitz.
