The future of the DLR site in Lampoldshausen lies not only in the operation of the test stand facilities, but also in the field of research into rocket propulsion systems. In DLR's "LUMEN" project, a liquid oxygen/methane engine powered by turbopumps is being developed and tested with all its components on the European Research and Technology Test Bed P8.
