The project "Ontology-based Data Integration and eXploration" (ODIX) has been launched
The official kick-off event for the project "Ontology-based Data Integration and eXploration" (ODIX) took place on 24 and 25 January - unfortunately not in Jena due to external circumstances, but very spontaneously online.
The aim of ODIX is to develop methods to process the knowledge contained in documents and other sources (e.g. measurement series, process data) in such a way that it can be used directly in AI applications as well as comprehensively explored and analysed by humans. To this end, factual information is first extracted from the documents and annotated using semantic concepts, which also includes the creation of suitable automated interfaces for extraction. The resulting knowledge graph is stored together with other collected data in a data management system and linked to each other. On this basis, interfaces are developed for both human and automated utilisation of this now structured knowledge. The project will conclude with a demonstration of the developed prototype. Examples from the domain-specific institutes will be provided to evaluate the performance of the software. Other document types, data types and, in particular, exploration options may form part of future projects.
A total of five DLR institutes from the field of aviation are represented:
- Institute of Data Science (project lead)
The project is also supported by the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics (Energy Division).
The wide range of institutes and disciplines involved will ensure that the methods developed in the project are implemented in the best possible way both within DLR and in industry.
