ARENA2036

The Institute of Vehicle Concepts has been working at the ARENA20236 research campus since 2018.

ARENA2036 stands for "Active Research Environment for the Next generation of Automobiles" and is one of nine research campuses of the "Research Campus - Public-Private Partnership for Innovation" funding initiative in Germany. ARENA2036 is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is run as a registered association with members from science and industry. As a research campus of the future, ARENA2036 forms the innovation platform for cooperation between science and industry with a focus on the mobility of the future.

The DLR Institute of Vehicle Concepts works with research campus partners on innovations of the future and helps to develop and shape technological change. We are working on a wide variety of interdisciplinary projects with a focus on user-centered vehicle concepts and vehicle architectures, vehicle development methods involving artificial intelligence, and flexible vehicle structures with additive manufacturing technologies. One example of this is the ARENA joint project CARpulse. The CARpulse project aims to develop a modular capsule for autonomous vehicles. The research results are demonstrated using selected technology demonstrators. This collaboration takes place directly in the adaptable factory hall, which serves as an open co-working space.
