Concept design of the self-propelled ASINO bogie
As part of the ProCo (Propulsion and Coupling) project, a self-propelled bogie for freight wagons, known as ASINO, is being developed. ASINO is designed in particular to facilitate shunting operations, either through functions such as remote control or automated driving. All the components required for this function are housed within the installation space provided by the bogie. This results in a solution whereby existing bogies can be replaced with ASINO bogies. Consequently, existing rolling stock can continue to be used and downtime can be reduced. The aim is to use ASINO to make rail freight transport more flexible, more resource-efficient and faster, thereby strengthening its competitiveness against other freight transport methods.
