ReLike - Smart supply chains and robust strategies for transformation

The automotive industry, which is organised in global value networks, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and must cope with these disruptions in addition to the transformation of the vehicle and the industry.

Project description

The DLR Institute of Vehicle Concepts and the IMU Institute are investigating the effects, their specific causes and options for action for companies in Baden-Württemberg in the project "ReLike - Smart supply chains and robust strategies for transformation". The project is funded by e-mobil BW GmbH and will run until September 2021.

Project goals

The aim of the project is to identify options for action to make supply chains in automotive value networks sustainable and more resilient to disruptions. The focus is on options for companies in Baden-Württemberg. This is done against the background of the transformation of transport (vehicle construction) analysed as part of the "BWe mobil 2019 structural study" and extends this in particular with regard to

(a) Changing R&D, production and platform strategies in vehicle construction/concepts, particularly against the background of the transformation,
(b) changing innovation networks and supply chains due to the electrification of the powertrain and
(c) unpredictable/unplannable disruptions in supply chains using the example of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project addresses corporate strategies and their framework conditions in equal measure. The target groups are companies in the Baden-Württemberg automotive cluster, associations and economic policy makers.

Results

Project results will be published during the course of the project.
