How can drones be safely and reliably integrated into the airspace?
The U-ELCOME project is dedicated to advancing U-space technologies and developing the market for urban air mobility and related services. Its aim is to support a sustainable and intelligent mobility strategy while creating innovative solutions for the future of aviation.

The 3-year U-ELCOME project, coordinated by EUROCONTROL and involving 51 European partners, was launched in November 2022. U-ELCOME builds on the results of previous European projects and is based on real U-spaces in three European countries that are already in operation or will be introduced by the project partners during the implementation of the project. With the demonstrations taking place in Italy, Spain and France, the project aims to achieve interoperability and harmonisation of U-space services.

The Institute of Flight Guidance is contributing to the harmonisation by providing overarching processes. Furthermore, the Institute supports the creation of standardisation and regulations as well as the creation of a manual for the implementation of U-space for interested stakeholders.

The aim of the U-ELCOME project is to harmonise and promote the market readiness of basic U-space services in the EU. With demonstrations taking place in three European countries, the project aims to achieve interoperability and harmonisation of U-space services. The Institute of Flight Guidance is helping to organise and run the workshops and is working to ensure harmonisation.
