Systems Engineering Methods for Safety-Critical Systems
Increasing demands for energy efficiency and passenger comfort while maintaining consistently high safety standards require the integration of new functions and technologies in aviation. The rapid pace of technological advancement is resulting in increasing system complexity in modern aerospace systems.
At the Institute of Flight Systems, we are researching innovative methods to systematically address this growing complexity. A central aspect of our work is the development of new design methods within Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Our focus is on investigating model-based development approaches supported by AI-driven methods. By applying the developed methods to safety-critical aerospace systems and considering both functional and technical aspects, we enable a well-founded evaluation of system architectures at early stages of development.
