Inspiring Future Scientists: Lunar Brick Gifted to DLR_School_Lab
Our institute recently donated a unique lunar brick to the DLR_School_Lab. This brick, made from the lunar regolith simulant EAC-1A, was produced as part of the doctoral research by our PhD student Juan Carlos Arañó Romero. The brick was handed over to Ulrike Krings Rocha and Jan Bechert from the DLR_School_Lab, where it will serve as an educational tool to inspire young minds in space exploration.
The EAC-1A simulant, co-developed by researchers from our institute and ESA’s European Astronaut Centre (EAC), closely mimics the material found on the lunar surface. The brick, sintered from the specialized mineral mixture developed for the LUNA analogue facility, showcases the potential of new technologies and materials for future lunar infrastructure. By contributing this demonstrator to the DLR_School_Lab, we aim to engage students with the practical challenges of space exploration and to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers
