CSP Services GmbH was founded in Cologne in 2007 as a spin-off of the solar research of the DLR Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics. The company implements development results, knowledge and experience of DLR in industrial applications, but also researches and develops with its own workforce. The product spectrum ranges from quality assurance for solar thermal power plants to the optimisation of heat and power yield.

A team of specially trained engineers and technicians supports customers to  develop, design and install new plants as well as to maintain and optimise existing plants. Through extensive experience and broad know-how, CSP Services has developed specific, high-precision measurement technologies and evaluation tools for all Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) applications. The company provides data in the production of high-quality components for solar field systems and details on how their performance can be continuously improved.

Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) applications include prototype evaluation, quality control, assessment and performance improvement of solar fields and their components (parabolic troughs, heliostats, Fresnel systems, dishes), measurement of relevant meteorological data and comprehensive and holistic consulting. CSP Services supports its customers in reducing technology risks, optimizing revenues and increasing competitiveness.

In 2012 CSP Services was nominated as one of the finalists in the category "rising star" of the German Founders Award.

Together with DLR, CSP Services received the Technology Innovation Awards from SolarPACES (2018) and CSPPLAZA (2019) for "QFly". QFly is an airborne quality control system for solar thermal power plants developed by DLR and implemented by CSP Services. The process involves a drone flying over the entire solar field, producing aerial images of the collectors. These are then automatically evaluated and provide information for optimisation.
