CARIOQA-PMP General Assembly 2026

On March 19 and 20, 2026, the third General Assembly of the CARIOQA-PMP consortium was held at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), bringing together participants from Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), DTU National Space Institute, Laboratoire Temps Espace (LTE), Laboratoire Photonique, Numérique et Nanosciences (LP2N), ONERA, LCAR, TU Munich, Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), Airbus, EXAIL, LEONARDO, Teletel, FORTH/PRAXI, G.A.C. Group, as well as the German and French space agencies, DLR and CNES.

Representatives from the various institutions presented and discussed the results of the past year with members and invited experts from the HaDEA department of the European Commission and members of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Board (STAB). The focus was twofold: on one hand, progress in the development of the quantum accelerometer, and on the other hand, accompanying scientific studies for the CARIOQA Pathfinder Mission and the potential application on a subsequent satellite gravimetry mission.

The second CARIOQA project webinar on the topic "Quantum Sensors: From Ground to Space" was live-recorded during the assembly. Moderated by Thomas Lévêque (CNES), Naceur Gaaloul (LUH), Stefan Seidel (Airbus), and Lisa Wörner (DLR) discussed the current state of development of quantum sensors in space, the technical challenges compared to terrestrial applications, and future potential uses, such as Earth observation missions.

This second webinar entitled "Quantum Sensors: From Ground to Space" explored pathways for translating advanced laboratory quantum sensing technologies into deployable instruments for future Earth observation and space-based gravimetry missions. Chaired by Thomas Lévêque (CNES), the discussion featured Naceur Gaaloul (Leibniz University Hannover, Germany), Stephan Seidel (Airbus), and Lisa Wörner (DLR).
