Safety Critical Testing & Evaluation

  • Creation and investigation of simulation and flight test scenarios based on the development, production, certification, operation and pilot training in the field of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) - in close contact with the certification authorities, in particular with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)
  • Creation of an assessment capability for safety-critical scenarios as part of the certification process through to validation/certification

Scaled Technology Demonstrators

  • Technology testing in flight using scaled technology demonstrators
  • Real tests in the field of UAS, in general aviation (GA) and in urban air mobility (UAM), particularly in the field of high automation
  • Investigation and testing of new methods and processes based on UAS for the establishment of new technologies in the fields of GA and UAM

UAS Research Plateau

  • Bundling of cross-institute DLR UAS research in Cochstedt as an integral part of the Competence Center
  • Establishment of temporary scientific staff to increase efficiency, especially in the area of interdisciplinary cross-sectional projects and networking/cooperation with partners from industry and research
