This TerraSAR-X image taken on 25 April 2009 in what is known as ScanSAR mode (resolution of 16 metres, strip width of 100 kilometres) shows the icebergs that broke off from the Antarctic Wilkins Ice Shelf on 20 April 2009. These icebergs are breaking away at the failure zones, which have gradually formed over the past 15 years.
