Spaceflight can only take place with cooperation between national and international partners, as large missions and projects can only be accomplished and financed together. Knowledge and information gained in this way benefit us all. Cooperation with other sectors is also important – after all, spaceflight creates innovations that are used in everyday life, and this works the other way, too. Spaceflight also benefits from cross-industry knowledge and technology transfer from other sectors.

There is a marked political dimension to European space activities. Representing national interests as effectively as possible within the international arena is part of modern spaceflight management. At the same time it is similarly important to enhance and sustainably strengthen European space policy as a whole.

Innovation and New Markets

From satellite navigation in smartphones to cordless screwdrivers or ceramic hobs: space exploration has led to innovations that can be used in everyday life. Many sectors benefit from high-tech developments in the space technology field through cross-sector knowledge and technology transfer (spin-offs).
