The Hera spacecraft scans Dimorphos with its laser altimeter
Hera will use its laser altimeter to scan Dimorphos' surface. ESA's Hera mission – named after the Greek goddess of marriage – will be, along with NASA's DART spacecraft, humankind's first probe to rendezvous with a binary asteroid system. The asteroid Didymos is 780 metres in diameter and is accompanied by the secondary body Dimorphos, which has a diameter of 160 metres.
