Development of thermal storage systems

We are experts in the development of high-performance thermal storage systems with metallic phase change materials. Our focus here is on comprehensive development for use in battery buses and trains, but our expertise can also be utilised profitably for other areas of application such as industrial processes, etc. The development work covers the range from basic developments to overall systemic considerations in the field of application:
- Expertise in materials technology; selection of storage and enclosure materials (in cooperation with other DLR institutes)
- Expertise in the selection and investigation of subcomponents such as electrical heating elements, heat exchangers, etc.
- Expertise in the thermal and mechanical design of subcomponents and overall storage systems
- Expertise and existing infrastructure for the experimental investigation of subcomponents and overall storage systems
