Wing Integrated Systems Demonstration On Mechatronic Rig

WISDOM

In the collaborative project WISDOM (“Wing Integrated Systems Demonstration On Mechatronic Rig”), a validation platform for future actuation systems of high-aspect-ratio wings is being developed. The aim is to test and optimize the system-level implementation of innovative functions, such as active load alleviation and active flutter suppression, using multifunctional control surfaces and representative system components.

Overall, the consortium aims to test, analyze, and assess innovative flight-control systems within a hybrid test bench, focusing on their complex interactions and overall performance. As a result, valuable insights and conclusions are expected that will provide guidance for further system development and contribute significantly to increasing the technologies’ readiness level.

The consortium pursues the following three core objectives, which can only be achieved through close and coordinated collaboration among the project participants:

  1. Flight-control system: Development of a flight-control system that reliably provides safety-critical functionalities for active load alleviation and active flutter suppression on the wing.
  2. Demonstrator platform: Establishment of a validation platform that will continue to support industry in future testing and integration tasks, thereby contributing to the maturation of innovative technical systems.
  3. Test execution: Clear and demonstrable proof of active load alleviation and active flutter suppression through controlled activation and deactivation of the control system.
