Evaluation of military aircraft
The Institute of Flight Systems supports the German Military Aviation Authority (LufABw) and the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) by providing scientific and technical advice in the frame of expertise and studies. In this context, researches from the Institute assume leading roles in the respective working groups and support flight, simulator and rig tests in projects within military aviation.
A quality management specifically tailored for these tasks is used to satisfy the highest demands and with more than 50 years of experience in this area this guarantees that everyone in the team lives up to the high responsibility that comes with these activities.
The knowledge transfer between military research and the German Armed Forces leads to a better understanding of the needs and requirements for future developments in military aviation. The Institute of Flight Systems uses this knowledge to decide upon the focus of the research activities and transfers the latest findings and results back into decision-making groups of the German Air Force and the Ministry of Defence. In this frame, the Institute’s research especially benefits from the regular exchange with active military air crew members. This way a strong synergy between DLR’s role as a research organization and its task to advice governmental organizations is created.
