CARIOQA Phase B Kick-off Meeting
From 15 to 16 October 2025, leading European experts from the fields of quantum physics, geodesy and space technology met at the French space agency (CNES) in Toulouse to celebrate the official launch of Phase B of the CARIOQA project.

The previous Phase A was successfully completed in June 2025, in which the technical feasibility of a satellite mission with quantum-based measurement sensors was demonstrated. The mission concept will now be consolidated in the following phase B, which will run for 24 months from October 2025. Critical technologies for both the payload and the satellite platform will be systematically advanced in order to bring them up to Technology Readiness Level 6. The aim of the project is to demonstrate the maturity and operational readiness of the technologies for future space missions and thus take a decisive step towards the practical application of quantum-based measurement methods in space.

The first live webinar of the CARIOQA project was recorded during the kick-off meeting. Experts Christian Schubert (DLR), Vincent Ménoret (Exail), and Franck Pereira (LTE-Observatoire de Paris) answered questions on the current status of quantum sensors in terrestrial applications. The webinar was moderated by Célia Pelluet (CNES).
