SAVeNoW - This is BoBBi
With BoBBi, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) will investigate the behavior of cyclists in traffic in order to increase their safety when interacting with other road users. Thanks to its sensors, which are based on different technologies (e.g., camera, lidar, radar, ultrasound, GNSS), the bicycle can localize itself and simultaneously record its traffic environment. In addition, it is possible to exchange information through human-machine interfaces such as Smartgrips and V2X communication, which allow to give directions or inform about specific events while riding as well as informing other road users about the position and velocity of the bicycle. All these technologies help gain a deeper understanding of human behavior while cycling, develop measures for cyclist safety and improve the interaction between road users.
