"Luftfahrt der Zukunft" visits Cochstedt
On June 7, 2023, the initiative "Luftfahrt der Zukunft" (Aviation of the future) was at DLR's Cochstedt site with around 30 visitors to learn about current trends in unmanned aviation.
The National Experimental Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems and the various possibilities at the site due to the extensive infrastructure were presented by acting director Daniel Sülberg. Afterwards, there was a demonstration of the tracking system and the motion platform by the Scientific Infrastructure Department for the visitors. It was shown how the drone is tracked during the flight with the tracking system and finally landed safely on the motion platform. In the end, the participants toured the flight operations areas including the tower and model city.
Luftfahrt der Zukunft (LdZ) is an initiative of the German Aerospace Society (DGLR), the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the Lower Saxony Aviation Research Center (NFL) and the Association of German Engineers (VDI). Since 2011, the LdZ has been offering regular (online) lectures and excursions on current developments in aviation as well as applications and solutions in the field of aeronautics research.
