Departments

The Institute of Transport Research is divided into a cross-sectional department and three specialised departments:

Institutional and Strategic Planning Department

Institutional and Strategic Planning provides impetus for the direction of the institute, coordinates research within and with other institutes and is responsible for large-scale facilities. Targeted public relations work strengthens the Institute on the research market. Our administrative departments ensure efficient processes.

Space for Mobility and Transport Department

We research the requirements for sustainable infrastructures, transport networks and spaces of mobility and transport, such as routes, areas, transport networks and hubs.

Means of Transport Department

We contribute to the transformation of transport by developing solutions and design ideas for a sustainable, demand-oriented and efficient means of transportation on roads, railways and waterways and thus provide scientifically sound recommendations for action for partners from business, government and society.

Transport Markets and Mobility Services Department

For a successful transport transition, we investigate and design innovative, sustainable mobility and transport services and their framework conditions in transport markets - for both passengers and goods.
