The Institute of Transport Research is divided into a cross-sectional department and four specialised departments:
Institutional and Strategic Planning provides impetus for the direction of the institute, coordinates research within and with other institutes and is responsible for large-scale facilities. Targeted public relations work strengthens the Institute on the research market. Our administrative departments ensure efficient processes.
We research the requirements for sustainable infrastructures, transport networks and spaces of mobility and transport, such as routes, areas, transport networks and hubs.
The department Means of Transport supports the resilient transformation of transport by developing needs-based mobility solutions for road and rail that take both the transport system and energy supply into account, in order to provide scientifically sound impetus for partners from business, politics and society.
For a successful transport transition, we investigate and design innovative, sustainable mobility and transport services and their framework conditions in transport markets - for both passengers and goods.
Digital transport planning optimises planning processes by analysing and modelling complex transport scenarios and establishing knowledge networks.
