Nationales Forum für Fernerkundung und Copernicus und Digitaler Katastrophenschutzkongress: ZKI participated
From 23 to 24 March 2021, the "National Forum for Remote Sensing and Copernicus" took place virtually for the first time under the leitmotif "Copernicus: New Dimensions". The ZKI participated with a keynote speech "Remote sensing products as a service for security authorities" together with the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) in the specialist session "Big Brother is watching you? What security authorities can (not) do with remote sensing data".
The technical session was chaired by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). Questions were discussed on the topic of satellite remote sensing as a police tool, technical possibilities and demands on satellite images.
At the same time on 23 and 24 March 2021, the "Digital Civil Protection Congress" took place also for the first time. DLR's Security Research Programme Coordination organised a virtual stand at the congress as well as an expert panel "From research to deployment - contributions of DLR research to Civil Protection". The ZKI participated both at the virtual stand and with a lecture.
Together with THW and I.S.A.R. Germany, we presented our work on the explosion in Beirut. Overall, the event was very well received. The presentations by the expert panel and the DLR stand were very well attended, with over 100 participants.
