Four hundred kilograms of research in microgravity

On 27 February 2024 at 8:27 CET the MAPHEUS 14 high-altitude research rocket, operated by DLR, successfully launched from the Esrange Space Center near Kiruna, Sweden. The high-altitude rocket reached an altitude of 265 kilometres and provided approximately six and a half minutes of microgravity for its scientific payload.

The journey to the martian moon Phobos begins

The German-French rover IDEFIX travels to Japan and is expected to arrive there at the end of January. It is part of the MMX mission, which will explore both martian moons under the leadership of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, JAXA. The aim is to resolve the mystery surrounding the formation of Phobos and Deimos.
M-42 radiation detector flies to the Moon

A radiation measurement device from DLR is on the way to the Moon. The M-42 radiation monitor is on board the commercial Astrobotic Peregrine Mission One, which was launched from Cape Canaveral (USA) on 8 January 2024 aboard the maiden flight of the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan VC2S rocket.
