Ground Stations
44 employees work at the ground station in Weilheim. Satellite communication operations are organized in shifts around the clock. All antennas and station equipment are controlled and monitored from various control rooms. The station team supports space missions in the L-, S-, X-, Ku- and Ka-bands and can operate several missions simultaneously in multi-mission mode. The station's antenna systems are equipped with redundant devices to ensure high availability.
The satellite passages are processed using in-house software tools developed by GSOC. The Weilheim ground station is connected to GSOC in Oberpfaffenhofen via a redundant communication link in order to coordinate the operation of the antennas and process the data from the spacecraft. The station is part of a global communications network and also enables other space agencies or external customers to use "antenna time" for their missions.
