Cooperation with ONERA in the field of airborne optical remote sensing
With the signing of the cooperation agreement MOTAR "Measurement and Observation Techniques for Aerospace Research" between DLR and ONERA at the end of January 2006, the Applied Remote Sensing Cluster has now formally established its long-standing cooperation with ONERA-DOTA (Département Optique Théorique Appliquée) in the field of airborne optical remote sensing.
The overarching objectives of this cooperation, which covers other topics in addition to optical remote sensing, are:
- Formation of a stable core for future European research collaborations in order to be able to act as the most important and attractive partner for European customers
- Concerted appearance "only one voice" towards third parties
- Developing joint measurement techniques for large test facilities and flight tests, avoiding duplicate development, pooling equipment and expertise while maintaining scientific competition
- Acting as an advisor to the government agencies of the European Union.
The first meeting of the Joint Management Team with 4 + 4 scientists from DLR and ONERA took place at the end of March to define the central topics of the cooperative activities.
For optical remote sensing, the focus is on methods and systems based on hyperspectral technology.
