October 19, 2008 "A day like flying" - Open Day at DLR Oberpfaffenhofen
On October 19, 2008, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Oberpfaffenhofen will once again open its doors to interested visitors. From 10:00 to 17:00, visitors can tour the eight institutes and facilities on the DLR site. Scientists will present projects and current research topics. This year's main topics include satellite data processing, satellite navigation, the current Columbus space mission and current results from the latest TerraSAR-X radar satellite mission, weather and climate research, research aircraft and the latest reports from robot development and production.
You can experience DLR and its research up close in a series of lectures, movie screenings, live demonstrations and sightseeing flights.
The tour program of the German Remote Sensing Data Center includes the robot archive, video animations, the "Center for Satellite Based Crisis Information" (ZKI), guided tours of "Artwork Earth" and the presentation of the new book "Global Change". The topics of the Institute for Remote Sensing Methodology are "The world in the infrared", "Understanding the environment with radar from space - TerraSAR-X", "Light scattering phenomena in the atmosphere" and "Measuring ozone from space".
On this day, visitors will also be able to view the new Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen for the first time.
