Austrian Aeronautics and Space Agency visits EOC
On 4 June 2014 the head of the Aeronautics and Space Agency of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), Harald Posch; the Austrian Copernicus contact Dr. Thomas Geist; and the initiator of the Earth Observation Data Centre for Water Resources Monitoring (EODC), Prof. Wolfgang Wagner of Vienna University of Technology, paid a visit to DLR’s Earth Observation Center (EOC).
Together with Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rockwitz, representing the DLR’s Space Program Directorate, and Dr. Jörn Hoffmann, Copernicus contact in DLR‘s Space Administration Division, the guests discussed possibilities for cooperation in the areas of Sentinel data access, processing and analysis with the data infrastructure and remote sensing experts of the German Remote Sensing Center (DFD). With the EODC, Austria was one of the first ESA member countries to work out a concept for a way to bring together national remote sensing efforts in the Copernicus framework. The focus is on obtaining new remote sensing parameters based on Sentinel data for topics relating to hydrology.
