Physics of Volcanoes 2024 Workshop at DLR
From March 4 to 6, 2024, DLR hosted this year’s Physics of Volcanoes workshop. At this German Geophysical Society event held annually at a German research institution, an interdisciplinary exchange on various aspects of volcanism was in the foreground.
At the 10th Physics of Volcanoes workshop the team at DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen could welcome some 90 scientists from a wide variety of disciplines, including volcanology, remote sensing, geology, petrology, physics and chemistry. The participation of international colleagues was particularly welcomed, for example from Alaska, Ireland and Italy. This year’s workshop was jointly organized by EOC and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics.
How to stimulate the next generation of research talent is an important consideration of the Physics of Volcanoes workshop series of the German Geophysical Society’s volcanology working group. The Oberpfaffenhofen workshop provided an outstanding opportunity for an in-depth thematic and methodological exchange on this subject.
