In an entertaining and sometimes absurdly funny way, he encouraged the audience to think critically about the divide between poverty and wealth, which can be identified in building structures through remote sensing. He challenged the audience to reflect on what this has to do with themselves—often leaving them unsure whether it’s okay to laugh at these sad absurdities.

It was a highly humorous evening where science was presented in an entertaining and multifaceted way. In this scientific short lecture competition, anything goes to elicit the loudest applause from the audience. The event once again demonstrated that science can be brought into society.
