Hannes Taubenböck wins the Science Slam in Rosenheim

In 2026, Hannes Taubenböck crowned his winning streak at the Science Slam: after his victories in Würzburg (2024) and Rosenheim (2025), he once again won the Science Slam in Rosenheim on March 28.

With a new, sharp-witted presentation titled “Have You Ever Sat on a Train to Mumbai? – Research at the Intersection of Poverty, Wealth, and Morality,” he once again succeeded in winning the competition and successfully defending his title from the previous year. In an entertaining and humorous manner, Taubenböck demonstrated how remote sensing sheds light on societal issues at the intersection of global inequality, urban development, and ethical responsibility.

The Science Slam in Rosenheim is a dynamic format in which scientists compete for audience approval in just ten minutes—presenting complex topics in a way that not only makes them understandable, but also emotionally engaging. Hannes Taubenböck’s contribution was yet another example of how science can be communicated in a way that resonates with the public.
