Expansion of expertise in time series analysis of climate and environmental parameters. Better understanding of the relationship between greenhouse gas emissions, extreme heat, precipitation and air pollutants. Investigation of the effects and assessment of the consequences of climate change in the Alpine region.

According to the International Commission for the Protection of the Alps, the Alpine region is twice as affected by climate change as the global average. For people, nature and the economy, this means changes that also pose major challenges for policymakers. The aim of AlpClimNet is therefore to support policymakers within the framework of ARGE ALP in climate protection measures through improved observation and analysis of environmental and climate parameters. To this end, measurements from the ARGE ALP regions are to be integrated into the Virtual Alpine Observatory (VAO) in order to create a denser measurement network. The measurements are also to be supplemented by independent model- and satellite-based data. AlpClimNet intends to assess the current state of the atmosphere and estimate climate-related correlations and risks.
