BioClis

BioClis
The DFD can further expand its expertise in the field of air quality and health. Environmental factors such as air pollutants, temperature, radiation, humidity and wind affect human health in many ways. The impact of climate change has hardly been researched yet. The IT developments of WDC/RSAT and UFS/VAO (AlpEnDAC) can be incorporated and further developed.

The aim is to develop a bioclimatic information system for Bavaria. It will provide daily updates on the aggregate health risk posed by air pollutants and thermal stress. BioClis is funded by the Bavarian State Ministries of Health and Care and Environment and Consumer Protection.

BioClis is intended to create a tool for the Bavarian State Government, citizens and high-risk patients that allows for an integrated view of morbidity and mortality risks due to environmental and climate parameters. The focus is on promoting preventive medicine and better adaptation to climate change. BioClis is being developed as a service of the UFS (Schneefernerhaus Environmental Research Station) and therefore uses the existing IT infrastructure of the AlpEnDAC - Alpine Environmental Data Analysis Centre.
