EOC Data Portal (EDP)

In the "EOC Data Portal" (EDP) project, a comprehensive, modern and user-friendly web portal is being set up at DLR to provide users of Earth observation data with a simple and central access point to the world of data, services and applications in Earth Observation.

The Earth Observation Center (EOC) is the competence center for earth observation in Germany. The participating institutes DFD and IMF focus on research and development of algorithms and processors, applied research in the field of land surface dynamics, atmosphere, geo-risks and civil security. In addition, the EOC operates large facilities and services, such as the Centre for Satellite Based Crisis Information, the German Satellite Data Archive and national and international receiving stations.

Within this framework, a large number of research results are generated in the form of data, services, applications and publications, among other things, and published in various systems and websites (e.g. Environmental and Crisis Information Systems).

The core objective of EDP is therefore to make these data and research results searchable, visible and usable for different user groups in a standardized, structured and attractive data portal in accordance with the FAIR data principles. This gives both DLR internal and external users a comprehensive overview of the entire data portfolio and increases the findability and visibility of our research results.

Of particular importance is the exchange of earth observation data and derived information products within the scientific community and the promotion of innovation by improving the transfer of research results for authorities, industry and the general public.
