Stadtklima im Wandel - 3DO
The aim is to develop an innovative urban climate model that will be capable of resolving micro-scale atmospheric processes at the building level for cities ranging in size from Stuttgart to Berlin, i.e. working with grid sizes of less than 10 m. This will enable interdisciplinary analyses to be carried out and measures to be planned to safeguard and improve the urban climate or air quality. In module B of the 3DO joint project, existing long-term observations will be processed and new measurements will be carried out in intensive measurement campaigns in Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart. This extensive 3D data on the atmosphere will be used for model validation and applications in urban planning and air quality control.
In subproject 14 (DLR), satellite- and aircraft-based measurements will be carried out and analysed to investigate atmospheric physical and chemical parameters in the cities of Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart. Together with the other measurement data collected in the joint project, this will provide new insights into the urban climate.
