Development of process-related potential with a focus on generic part design

When used correctly, generic part design (GPD) and additive manufacturing (AM) processes enable both the optimisation of development processes and the production of new, highly functional and multifunctional vehicle structures. Furthermore, there are significant advantages, for example in the procurement of spare parts for road and rail vehicles, including the reduction of major warehousing costs. In times of crisis (e.g. supply bottlenecks), decentralised, local and flexible production capacities for vehicle components are made possible. In order to leverage this potential, both in the development process itself and in a subsequent production-optimised design, we analyse existing processes and develop new possible applications.
