Projects at school_lab Bremen

School projects

In addition to school visits - which usually last one day - school classes also have the opportunity to engage in longer-term school projects on the subject of space travel. DLR_School_Lab supports them with expert knowledge, tips and equipment. As a rule, such a school project begins with a kick-off event at DLR_School_Lab. Here, the pupils are introduced to the topic and given a "work assignment". This can then be worked on at school in subject lessons, in electives, in working groups or in project days or weeks. Finally, the school class returns to the DLR_School_Lab and presents its results.

It is also possible to combine several school projects. The conclusion of one can serve as a kick-off for the next school project. In this way, the topic of space travel can inspire pupils not just for a day or a few weeks, but for an entire half-year.

School research projects

Pupils who are particularly interested can apply to us for a school research project. In student research projects, students can research their own questions in addition to the regular experiments. The way in which we support these projects can be very different: Some groups need an expert discussion to pursue more theoretical questions, others want to use the experimental facilities to carry out their own experiment and still others come to the school lab once a week to use technical equipment. The DLR_School_Lab supports such research projects within the scope of its possibilities and is happy to receive direct applications from young researchers. The cover letter should explain the research question - together with details of the methodology, a timetable for the project and information on the support required from DLR_School_Lab.
