Using open source software at DLR (brochure in German)

                  6.7 MB | PDF

Open source software is an integral part of modern software development. The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) frequently uses open source software for its own software development, and at the same time frequently makes open source software available to the market. In addition, individual DLR software developers frequently contribute to existing open source software projects of third parties. This brochure presents the use of open source software at DLR in several sections: DLR's position on open source software, information on publishing software as open source software and recommendations on the use of different open source licences. The brochure is a joint publication of DLR Technology Transfer and the DLR Institute of Software Technology, 2022.

                  DLR Software Engineering Guideline

This document describes the software engineering recommendations of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). The target audience of the recommendations are DLR scientists. The recommendations are intended to help you evaluate and improve the software you develop with regard to good software development and documentation practices. The focus of the recommendations is on preserving knowledge and promoting sustainable software development in research.
