In the HEHTRES (High Efficiency High Temperature Receiver System) project, DLR is testing a particle receiver and a particle transport system on an industrially relevant scale. The receiver is a further development of the centrifugal receiver (CentRec®) developed at DLR. In it, hot ceramic particles absorb the concentrated solar radiation and store it. One advantage of the particles: They can be heated to 900 degrees Celsius.
